Workshop on

Optimal Control Theory and Related Fields

4 - 7 December 2023
Valparaíso, Chile

The aim of this event is twofold. First, it is to bring together researchers working on optimal control theory, trying to foster new scientific relations. Secondly, to promote this field of optimization among graduate and undergraduate students.

The scope of the conference is mainly concerned with (but not limited to):

  • Optimal control of sweeping processes.
  • Optimal control on Wasserstein spaces.
  • Stochastic Optimal control.
  • Optimal control of PDEs.
  • Applications

    Venue

The Workshop on Optimal Control Theory and Related Fields will take place in Valparaíso from the 4th to 7th of December 2023 at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María. The main entrance of the campus is via Portería Avenida España (Avenida España 1680, Valparaíso Chile), which is located within distance walking from the Valparaíso Metro station called Portales.

    Touristic information

Greater Valparaíso is the third largest metropolitan area in Chile and Chile’s second most populated administrative region. The agglomeration is composed of several communes (Valparaíso, Viña del Mar, Concón, Quintero, Quilpué and Villa Alemana), and each is governed by its respective municipality. Valparaíso and Viña del Mar are located about 120 kilometres (75 miles) northwest of Santiago by road, and have a warm-summer Mediterranean climate influenced on the coast by the Humboldt Current. Winters are damp and cool with daily high temperatures ranging from 13 to 17 °C (55 to 63 °F) and from 5 to 9 °C (41 to 48 °F) at night, rarely falling below freezing. Spring can vary from mild to cool.

    Valparaíso

Valparaíso is one of the South Pacific’s most important seaports. The Historic Quarter of the Seaport City of Valparaíso is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its cultural significance. For more turistic information see the video below or visit the website: Valparaíso

    Viña del Mar

Viña del Mar (meaning «Vineyard of the Sea») is located north to Valparaíso and is one of the most turistic cities on central Chile’s Pacific coast. Often referred to as La Ciudad Jardín («The Garden City»). For more information see the video below or visit the website: Viña del Mar
